11 Ways to Make WordPress Faster

The need for speed

When it comes to your website‘s loading time, every second counts. The need for speed nowadays translates into every aspect of life, including the time spent browsing the web.

In fact:

  • A website’s loading time is a contributing factor to page abandonment. We now know that a user’s expectancy when it comes to waiting for a webpage to load is 2 seconds or less.
  • Faster loading time improves your website’s search engine ranking.
  • Your website loading faster can also increase your website’s conversion rate. Research shows that a 1 second delay in page response can result in a 7% reduction in conversions.

Identify speed bumps

Now, the next logical step towards fixing the problem with your website is identifying it by running a speed test.

Pingdom is a well-known and free tool that offers website monitoring services. Another great thing about this tool is that it has a user friendly interface, offers easy to follow summaries and it helps you to easily identify the existing issues with your website.

Make it faster

Once you’ve identified the issues it should be a little easier to fix the problem.

Keep it simple at the core

Think about your WordPress website like a body. If you want to strengthen the whole body you have to find ways to strengthen the core.

Now, what is the core of your website? Your website’s core would be: the hosting, themes and the plugins. Keeping these simple and uncluttered will help making it stronger, aka faster.

Choose a fast host

When it comes to choosing a server to host your website, you have to do your research. Reliable and fast hosting options aren’t always the cheap ones. The quality of the hosting service is definitely linked to how much you have paid for it.

Choose a clean theme

Choosing a theme can be overwhelming, especially with so many options to choose from. A solid framework and clean theme are going to help your website run faster. This way you won’t need excessive plugins, which will keep your website uncluttered.

Use caching plugins

W3 Total Caches is a plugin designed to improve your website’s user experience by increasing server performance. It can also help with loading speed by reducing download times and providing transparent content delivery network integration.

Only keep what you need

When it comes to using plugins for your website avoid installing non-essential ones. Every once in a while it’s best to do a check-up of the plugins you already have: keep the ones that work and get rid of the faulty ones.

Optimize images

An image optimizer will reduce the file size of an image while maintaining its quality. WP-Smushit is a free plugin that can do this automatically for you while also boosting your SEO.

Optimise the website homepage

Optimising your homepage contributes to a faster website loading time. The homepage is the page that needs to work faster, since it’s also the one that most users will be landing on.

A few quick ways to optimize it are:

  • Show excerpts instead of full posts;
  • Reduce the number of posts shown on the page;
  • Remove unnecessary widgets (you can include them in posts).

All in all, just keep it simple and minimalist – it will look better and load faster.

Optimise database

Database optimisation plugins are simple but effective clean-up tools for your website database; an automatic organiser. WordPress offers many options for database optimisation, such as: WP-Optimize andWP-DBManager.

Revisions control

Revision Control is a simple plugin that allows you to control the amount of post revisions stored. Less clutter means more storage space and faster loading time.

Image loading time

When a post contains lots of images it may take longer until they can all load. This plugin can help with this – it loads the images above the fold and as the reader scrolls down, the other images begin to load just before they come into view.

Storage space and security

CloudFare is a great tool that can not only increase the loading speed of your website, but can also offer the website its needed security. Along with W3 Total Cache plugin, they make a great combination that can drastically improve your website’s loading speed and security issues.

5 Reasons Why It’s Time to Go Responsive Web Design

If you’ve got a website for your business or organisation, you have to make sure it adapts well when you access the website on different devices. If your website isn’t looking good on your mobile or tablet device, it is more important than ever to revamp that website.

Responsive web design was all-the-craze in 2012, and ever since then it has become the norm for websites. More and more consumers are reaching for their mobile and tablet devices first to find out information about products and services.

If you’re needing some convincing, here’s some compelling reasons to go responsive:

1. Everyone is going mobile-first

Over 60% of online traffic is sourced from mobile devices, and this figure is only increasing. More than ever your website will become the first impression of potential customers. Optimising your website for mobile is paramount for easy navigation.

2. SEO loves responsive

As part of their criteria, search engine favours websites that are responsive. This makes sense because if your website is widely accessible, no doubt it will also be more relevant to the user. Organic search engine traffic is incredibly important for businesses, so improve that ranking by going responsive!

3. No device left unturned

The flexible nature of responsive means that your website will not only look great on desktop devices, but on everything else as well. It means all mobile and tablet devices will be able to enjoy their website experience, so your business earns a great impression on customers.

4. Reduce your website’s bounce rate

Users demand quick and easy access to the information they need. If you’re needing to pinch and zoom, tapping multiple times to access something or squinting to read information, it’s going to be frustrating. Having a website that fits perfectly with the screen is the best solution to keeping your visitors happy.

5. No need to redesign

If your desktop website is currently working for you, you won’t need to fix what’s not broken. A qualified web development agency can definitely take the code you’ve currently got and rejig it. Your site will then be able to work beautifully on different devices.

3 Common Challenges That Small Businesses Face Online

Owning a small business is sometimes… anything but small. If you are a small business entrepreneur you probably know what we are talking about. Sometimes, the challenges that small online businesses like yours face are nothing short of exhausting.

But if you want to make it big in the world of online sales you have to learn how to avoid the issues that cause most small businesses to get out of the game in the first 5 years.

The most important advice we can give you, is to plan ahead. This is the only way you will be ready to face the marketing challenges that lie ahead and, even better, overcome them.

Let’s talk about the 3 most common challenges that small businesses face in the online marketing world today:

1.  Not giving enough credit to your online presence

Some entrepreneurs don’t even take the time to build a professional online presence. Big mistake!

The first thing people turn to when they need something is the web. It’s where everybody is at and if you are not on it, your business is certainly missing out. But, as basic as this first challenge may seem, it is often overlooked even by social media and online business giants.

If you are not doing it on a regular basis, then you are not doing it at all. The reality is… an online presence is one of the most rewarding features of running a small business, if not the most rewarding.

Let’s take your website for instance. Where else can you grow the number of your “online shop” visitors in a very short period of time? Your website is the number one place where you can convince your customers that you are worth it.

So before you establish an online presence with your website, you need to learn how to create a strong visual brand that takes your business message across the online environment.

Nowadays, one of the most important website features is called “responsiveness” (the website adapts to the size of the screen it is being accessed from).

Do you already have a responsive website for your business? If not, click here

2. Expecting  too much too soon

It takes time to build a strong brand, no matter what type of business you are in. Miracles don’t happen overnight, especially if you are on your own. Think about your long-term goals instead of focusing on the moment frenzy.

Taking things step by step is the only solution to building a powerful online brand. It’s easy to get distracted by tangents along the way, so keep your mind on the final result. When you invest a lot of time and personal effort on your online presence, you probably expect new prospects to be flooding in.

That isn’t usually the case.

But, if you do wish to speed things up a bit, there is a simple solution to help you achieve that: creating a mobile app to complement your website. Did you know that in 2015, more people accessed a website from a mobile device than from a desktop PC? This only goes to show that mobile apps and mobile websites are the next thing in the online world. Actually, they are already the thing!

Are you flirting with the idea of having a mobile app? Click here to learn more.

3. Doing it all on your own

Things might seem pretty easy to work with in the beginning. This goes without saying. But you will notice that, after some time, the pressure will become too much to handle. Perhaps you are reluctant to having new members on board… but this will eventually become necessary.

And that is good news!  The more profitable your business becomes, the more people you will need to have around you.

And if other team members can’t do the job, a website and app development company certainly will.

That is the definition of growing your business into a powerful money-making machine: in today’s flexible world, you don’t need to hire people in order to grow your business. All you need is to know where you can find the collaborators that can take your online presence to the next level.

5 easy steps to capture leads effectively

Are you starting to lose some ground in your sales department? Are you trying to turn leads into (returning) customers?

In every business one of the most important goals is to bring more and more customers. You need to keep the business constantly moving. But every goal has its little goals, and every little goal has its even smaller steps. And each of those steps needs to be followed thoroughly so you can get the best results.

The same process is used when you want to turn leads into (returning) customers. It resembles a lot with the construction of a house when, if the foundation is not built strong enough, you might not be able to finish the rest of the house.

So let’s see 5 simple methods to turn website visitors into faithful customers and – why not? – brand ambassadors…

Emails

While email marketing might not be the “prettiest” marketing strategy, it is still one of the most efficient for generating more leads, conducting them through the sales filter, and building a loyal customer base. Through emails you are always in contact with your audience.

There are multiple types of emails that you can send, among the most popular being:

  • promotional – when you announce your latest promos
  • opt-in – when someone subscribes to your newsletter
  • transactional – when someone makes a purchase
  • newsletter – when you are informing your database about your latest blog posts or news release

The important thing is to be careful when creating the emails. Your emails should be persuasive and engaging but not disturbing.

Extra tip: include images, options for sharing, and do not forget about the call to action.

Form Submissions

The forms should be well optimised with auto responder. The main goal of any sales page is to reduce friction as much as possible. Imagine placing all the questions above on a single, long page filled with requests. That’s some serious friction over there! It would definitely chase customers away from the page, affecting your profits…

LiveChat

LiveChat is software that allows your audience to ask live questions, the best part being that you can answer right away. LiveChat is a great opportunity for you to establish a connection with your community.

They can see how involved you are in your customers’ well-being and how much you care about giving them the best experience with your business. It is a great way to see how you are managing their inquiries in real time.

Phone Calls

Maybe some of your website users don’t have the patience to type in long messages or maybe what they need to talk to you about is more complicated.

Having a phone number available on your website makes things so much easier. It also gives them the feeling that you are always available and willing to listen to what they have to say.

Bonus tip: Thanks to the ever-evolving technology like Twilio, now you can rack phone calls to see how many of them are coming from your website!

Sign-Ups

Sign-ups are forms where users leave their personal information such as name and email address so they can keep in touch with your business.

They have already purchased something from your website, but you don’t want them to stop there; you want to turn them into returning customers. So you are using sign-up forms to keep your customers updated about your promotions, your latest releases, and your contests. It makes your community engaged and thus increases the chances of earning a returning customer.

In conclusion, the connection you build with your audience is very important. It is a continuous process and you have to take care of it on a daily basis. And now that you know the secrets of building up customer loyalty, all you need to do is implement the strategies and start reaping the rewards of returning customers!

How To Convert Visitors Into Customers

Like any other business owner, your goal is to convert your online visitors into customers. And how do you do it? Why should they choose your business over someone else’s? First of all, you need to deliver quality to your customers at the most competitive price.

Yet the first contact most of your clients have with your business is in the online environment. So, you should consider improving visitors’ experience on your website. How do you do that? We’re about to show you exactly what you need to do.

This week’s article is all about the road you should follow to convert website visitors into clients.

User Experience

Without any fancy definitions, user experience is the feeling visitors get when they navigate your website. Having said that, navigation should be as easy as possible so the website can be accessed by anyone. Finding the information you want as quickly as possible is what most visitors look for.

Sometimes you just can’t make everything “simple”. But, the good news is that even if no simple way to navigate the website you can make the journey interesting. This way visitors won’t be bothered by a few extra clicks. Just make sure a few extra clicks is not more than 3…

Responsive

The term “responsive” refers to the ability of the website to adapt its size to any device, from desktop monitors to mobile phones. It is an important feature if you want people to be able to access your website at any time.

Plus, search engines are now monitoring the responsiveness of a website, and your business can lose hundreds of visitors if you don’t have a responsive website, simply for the reason that Google punishes unresponsive sites, sending them to the end of search results pages.

Video

Visuals are a key factor in every business, and most importantly on every website. There are multiple types of videos you could create to promote your online business. Having a promotional video for your products can make visitors more interested in your website.

Promotional videos are usually placed above the fold or on landing pages. Plus you can choose to have a blogging video where visitors can see you: the owner of the business. They can see that you are a person and not just someone who is trying to sell the company’s products. It builds their trust in your brand, and when you have their trusts, they become your customers.

Landing pages

A landing pages are created for website visitors to quickly gather information they need and contact us. Its purpose is to persuade visitors into giving their personal data, and most importantly their email address so you can then continue marketing to these users via email marketing. Very often online brands give users something in exchange for their name and email address, such as a free PDF, a free video training series, a voucher, discount coupon, or a secret gift.

Auto-Responders

As the name suggests, this is a series of emails that are sent on auto-pilot the moment someone subscribes to your newsletter list. Autoresponders usually promote a product, their main goal being to obtain a sale from the subscriber in the next 5-6 days from the moment they subscribed.

If you don’t plan to use autoresponders for closing a deal, its purpose can also be to help you save time, deliver useful emails, and make a nice first impression so you can convert visitors into customers later down the road.

LiveChat

LiveChat is the live support software that allows you to answer your customers on your website as they write to you. It is known to bring an improvement on sales and ROI (return on investment).

LiveChat is an intelligent tool which builds trust in your visitors and potential customers. The main reason for its success is the fact that website visitors are given the chance of talking to a real person and get their answers in real time, instead of having to use the Contact page and wait 24-48 hours for a reply.

Call to action

The purpose of Call to action is to bring an instant response from a prospect/lead by utilizing imperative verbs like “find out more”, “visit us today”, or “call now”.

On a website Calls to Action are similar to banners, or they are usually buttons that lead to a sales page. You should increase its density in order to guide people on the website and tell them what you want them to do.

It is important to keep in mind that converting your visitors into customers is not something that happens overnight, is more an ongoing process.

As a business owner, the good news is that it’s not impossible to win your target audience’s trust. Online Reputation

As the name suggests, online reputation is all about your businesses reputation in the online environment. Watch out! Your online reputation matters more than you think.

In conclusion, there are a lot of ways in which you can drive visitors to your website. However, it is a lengthy process. But if you take things one by one, you will soon notice an increased number of website visitors. You should always deliver the quality in everything you do, starting with the marketing strategies and ending with the quality of your products/services.

Hostmaker.co: A Web Design & Development Case Study

How is web design making a difference in the way you run your business? What are these “accessories” magic tricks that make people fall in love with them? Apps identify a problem a business has and through brainy engineering and programming, they are launched to solve that problem. Ultimately, website contribute to growing a business’ revenue and boosting the success of a service or product.

This is also the case with HostMaker, one of our client who came to us with a unique request. In today’s article we’ll walk through our successful process of making an enterprise application for Hostmaker.co.

Who is Hostmaker.co?

Hostmaker.co is an AirBNB management service for daily hosts. They are offering 5 stars hotel-services to homes from London, Rome, and Barcelona that are listed on AirBNB.

Their team is formed by five people, all AirBNB fans. That’s why the introduce themselves as both AirBNB host and guest.

Nakul Sharma is the founder of HostMaker; an experienced individual who worked in the hotel industry. Deepti Patankar takes care of the legal inquires, Ashleigh Berger takes care of the guests’ needs, Cherie Kong is a former head housekeeper and now in charge of photographing, while Roberto Colucci makes sure the guests are happy with the services.

They have 30 years of experience in hospitality and over 5000 completed services. Their focus is on providing the best quality as fast as possible. Their services contain cleaning services, check-in services, linen hire services, and full Airbnb management.

And then they needed an app…

Hostmaker.co started with a small funding from friends and family. As it turns out, the business soon started to grow as the market’s needs were increasing. Good news for the team!

But the problem was they did not have the system to help them manage their drivers, cleaners, and linens. So, instead of being joyous of the market’s necessity for their services, they became stressed and overworked. They started looking for a completely new business solution: the full management of their inventory, scheduling, and delivery of services.

Why have they chosen an app to take care of all this hard work? An app finds a smooth way for businesses to connect with customers and vice versa. Naturally then, they contacted EB Pearls to deal with the issue at hand.

For whom do you want to create this app?

Because their business is centered on helping AirBNB hosts in three cities, Hostmaker’s target audience is the hosts. By using the app the hosts can have a much easier access to all of HostMaker’s services, and more.

And so it started…

The project started on 18th March, 2015. Our process in creating an app consists of 4 large stages.

  1. The first step is the initiation of the project.

So we had our first meeting where we discussed about what exactly the team at HostMaker were expecting from their app. An important topic during our talk was the budget. We wanted to know how much they are willing to invest so we can know how much we can expand with the features and design.

  1. Creating the project plans

And when everything goes smoothly we made a plan for the project. It is important to know that every decision and every strategy had to be passed through by your clients first. It is their app and you want them to be happy with your services.

  1. Play with the design

And when everything is approved you move to the next step and so did we. The next process is creating the design. The biggest challenge is that you need to understand what your clients think and want, and you need to combine it with your super-tech knowledge.

Final steps…

The final steps in creating an app are the development and the testing phases. It is important to test the app: test it to see if it works on multiple devices and test to see how the public reacts to it. After all, you created the app for your client’s existing customers as well as for other potential ones.

Now let’s see what we included in HostMaker’s app… Its top features include:

  • A booking system
  • A scheduling system
  • An inventory management system
  • The possibility of choosing between different languages (since the services are available in 3 European cities from 3 different countries)

Overall, the project was a success and we are glad with the results we achieved. Hostmaker are happy and satisfied with the app too, which only makes us happier. But when we’re talking about real, palpable results, the app generated more traffic on their website, leading to 300 regular AirBNB hosts (clients) at the moment.

Now back to you!

  • Do you need website design? What features do you think are the most important for web application?

Growth Hacking: How Do You Control Your Online Business Growth?

App development Growth Hacking - How do you control your online business growth

Do you want to have a bigger, better, more successful business? Growth Hacking is a new marketing strategy in making your business grow. And it has nothing to do with “hacking” as you know it.

Who is a growth hacker?

A growth hacker is someone who is focusing only on growing your business. It is not better than a marketer, it’s just different.

Every initiative, strategy, action, and every plan made by a growth hacker has only one purpose: business growth. When you focus on doing one thing, and one thing only, it’s suddenly easier to achieve your goals because you become more efficient in working towards accomplishing your goals.

First: Capture early traction

Set a clear goal

It is highly important to set one goal at a time. One single goal offers a clear image on how to run things.

Imagine you have to cook something at home: at first, you decide the dish you want to make. Knowing the dish, you write a grocery list, then you go shopping. Then you wash, cut, pour, shake the ingredients. Finally, you put them together in a pot and you can see how the dish starts to come alive.

If you have one clear goal you can split it into several little goals that need to be achieved. Day by day, customers by customer, email by email, meeting by meeting, and the list keeps going until you have reached your goal.

Go for the things that don’t scale

The things that don’t scale are the things you will need to do over and over and they can’t be automatic. For example, when Tinder was trying to attract people in using their app, they used to organise parties at US colleges having one rule: They had to download the Tinder app.

Now, we’re not saying you should start throwing parties to your business’ detriment. Just think that during your business road to success, you might need to do some things that don’t bring you an immediate profit.

Already have people interested in your product/service? Use it to your advantage

Having people that already like your products gives you an advantage: they might like your next product/service. So, the smart thing to do is reach out to your existing users and let them know first about your new product developments. Sending them an email with a powerful Call To Action is just the first part of the story:

  • You can give something for free or an offer they can’t say no to – Everyone loves free things. The word “free” on its own will draw attention to your business. Take as example Hotmail. At its opening in 1996, Hotmail announced “Get Your Free Email at Hotmail”. From 20,000 users it moved up to 1 million users in just six months.
  • Start a competition and give one of your products as a free giveaway – Because most people are excited about competitions, especially when they can win something for free.
  • Create a campaign where the existing users mention a friend – This is a nice way of reaching new customers through your existing users.
  • Send emails to show them how to use the product – Showing people how to use your new product can make them trust it sooner, and if they trust your product and your business you might find yourself with a new customer.

Second: Get the first customers

Create the type of product that you would buy too

People really love and appreciate quality. So, if you want to get new customers you need to create an amazing product. Even if it is a redesigning a product that everybody uses, it must bring quality and an extra advantage to the question “Why should I be interested in using this new product when I already have that old product I love?”.

Take as example Tesla Motors. Their excellence in crafting their products make the products sell themselves. And that’s not all. Besides the products’ exceptional features, Tesla cars are electric vehicles, so their added advantage is an environmentally friendly product.

Get the right partners

The right partners not only help you in growing the business, but finding partners that your target audience also trusts will make your prospects look at your brand from a new perspective. It’s the same thing as when you are choosing your friends: Tell me who you hang out with so I can tell you who you are.

Launch on a Tuesday

It is proven that traffic on most websites decreases on weekend. On Friday’s people are too excited about the weekend and on Mondays they are still recovering from the weekend. So, Tuesday is the most efficient day of the week to organise a product launch.

Choose Exclusivity

Exclusivity makes people think that they are a part of something important and special. You can use this to your business advantage. Sending exclusive invitations is a wonderful growth hacking strategy. Think about Pinterest. When it was launched you could get access to it only if you had an invitation. It made you feel like you are part of something really special, an exclusive community that not a lot of people have access to.

Pinterest also sent emails to inform their potential users that the waiting list is quite long, reassuring them that they are doing everything in their power to allow everyone to join. This situation created buzz and everyone wanted to be on Pinterest. In just 3 years, Pinterest reached over 70 million users; they started with just 10,000.

Use branding as leverage (Powered By)

Branding is something that you can use to your advantage in growing your business. For example, you can co-brand an embeddable product or widget.

– Did you know…? Words like “Powered By…” attract 30% more people to sign up. Basically, here you have a free marketing strategy.

Include your company name as part of your real name

If you are leaving comments on blogs or post something in communities, you should consider including your brand’s name as a part of your name. This way, every time you post, people will remember your company’s name too.

It all sounds like a rather simple thing to do, but getting customers is really not an easy job. One of the hardest things to do is going from the prelaunch strategy for your new product into getting customers. This means that you need to build a product or service that has a powerful market requirement. The good news is that you don’t need to get everything done at the same time. The process is like building a house: brick by brick.

Why do you need a responsive website?

Why are all web designers and web developers insisting you to have a responsive website?

You may have heard a lot of people talking about responsive websites, but nobody took the time to explain how come they’ve become SO important almost overnight.
So in today’s article we’ve set our minds on presenting the 4 key benefits of responsive websites and how they came to be.

The birth of responsiveness

Remember when all you could do with a phone was… well, give phone calls? Those days are long gone, as now we use our phones as our second selves. And that’s not all. We also use tablets (thank God for those super-mini-smart-laptops!) and laptops, and smart watches – and what not!

Technology is now available everywhere. Accessible from almost anywhere.
There was only one problem… the websites were not adapted to the size of the screens they were being accessed from.

How can websites adapt?
That’s the question a lot of website developers asked themselves. They noticed that more and more people were ditching the traditional desktop PC and embracing the “internet on the go”: accessing the internet from their mobile phones or mobile gadgets.

Thus, within the last years a technique known as “responsive design” started to gain traction. Nowadays, it is the main and most popular way to deal with “mobile vs desktop” web design issues.

Shortly put, responsive eliminated the need for users to zoom in and out when navigating on a website from their mobile devices.

Can you believe that by the end of 2012 there were more mobile devices than people?
Knowing this, it’s easy to understand how responsiveness has become SUCH an important factor in an online business’ website conversion rate, ROI, profits, and search results rankings.

Improve your search results rankings

On April 21st 2015, Google released a new algorithm update. It marked one of the most important changes in the way the search engine ranks websites.
Thus, for the first time in history, the responsive websites were being given an edge over the non-responsive ones.

By having a responsive website you can actually BOOST your search engine rankings and occupy the first page in Google search results! If you want more online exposure and more visitors to your website, making it responsive is the first thing to consider…

responsive web design

Make your website accessible on all screens

What is your target audience? How are they using the internet?
Regardless of their sex, age, marital status or geographical location, most of your potential customers have a smartphone, a tablet, or a laptop that is connected to the internet. What is more, a large percentage of them are making purchases from their mobile devices.

Now, a responsive website enables you to SELL to your customers while they are on a train, walking in the park, or in a club with their friends. All it takes is for them to go to your website from their mobile devices, and press the BUY button.

This helps to build the Know-Like-Trust factor, meaning that users will come to Know you better (because you are available where they are searching for you: from their mobile devices!), then they will Like you (because your website is easy to navigate, it is branded, and it is visually appealing), and they will eventually come to Trust you (because a responsive website looks professional and works flawlessly across all types of screens).

All it takes now is for the user to click the Purchase button – see how we can help you achieve that!

Now is your turn…

Why make your website responsive?

Responsive website design is no longer an option. With an ever-increasing number of web users accessing the internet via mobile devices, having a website which adjusts smoothly from one size to another is key to keeping your audience happy. After all, we’ve all tried to visit sites on a tablet or phone, only to be greeted by the sight of a tiny version of a website which requires us to zoom in and scroll around in order to navigate. And we all know how frustrating that can be.

Clearly, the only option for a high-traffic, easy-to-use site is responsive website design. Consider the following:

Mobile isn’t the only alternative. Increasingly, web users are accessing their favorite sites with the use of their TV. Design doesn’t only need to get smaller – it needs to be allowed to expand as well, without blowing out the images or other fields.

A responsive site makes shopping easier. If you run an ecommerce site then responsive web design is a must for you. Customers need to be able to see what they’re looking for, choose it easily (without accidentally clicking the wrong item) and then easily enter their payment information.

Younger users are focused on mobileIf your brand is looking to build or maintain relationships with a younger audience, responsive web design will make it more likely that they’ll visit and spend time on your site. Anyone who’s ever spent time in public surrounded by young people knows that using mobile devices is second-nature to the young. So ensuring that your site appeals to them and is accessible no matter where they are will only help your business.

Responsive web design will only serve to help your business grow. And EB Pearls can help you build a site that looks great no matter what device your visitors use. Let our designers and developers improve your chances for success!

Prototyping: The Best Way to Convince an Investor

Have you ever wondered how big business get to be big businesses? How a start-up can appear professional and successful right out of the gate? And does this make you look at your own business or project and wonder what “they” have that you don’t have? The short answer is: Money. The fact is, though, that the start up capital needed to turn an idea into a reality doesn’t need to come from you. That’s where investors come in.

Of course, coming up with the next big idea and convincing an investor to grant you the money you need are two different things. And while you may have ultimate faith in yourself and your ability to succeed, odds are an investor won’t be quite so easily sold. Savvy investors want hard proof that their investment won’t be for naught, so any tactic you can use to further your case is welcome. And developing a prototype is one cost-effective yet impressive method for doing just that.

A technical prototype, designed and developed by an agency like EB Pearls, will help your potential investors understand exactly what it is they’re being pitched. Rather than relying on your description and the imaginations of the investors to do all the work, having something that can be examined and questioned will foster understanding and the greater likelihood that your pitch will be successful.

Keep in mind, too, that having a prototype in your arsenal is sure to impress your potential investors. Such a tool conveys professionalism and a serious commitment to turning your idea into a success – and investor money into a profitable return. You’re conveying the notion that your idea isn’t a mere whim, and thus worth investing in.

The best part: A prototype is a cost-effective investment almost anyone can make. When considered in terms of ROI, the money spent having a prototype developed is more than worthwhile. As long as an agency with a solid track record like EB Pearls is brought in on your prototype project, ensuring that your prototype is of the highest quality, your investors will certainly be impressed. And that impressed attitude will translate into investment dollars – which will translate into success for you.

Questions You Should Ask Web Design and Development

More people than ever before are making use of the Internet, with more than two billion browsing the World Wide Web on a regular basis. With the number of web users growing at a phenomenal rate, it’s a good idea to provide web users with access to your company’s services on the move. Tablets, smartphones and other Internet-friendly devices can be used for online reading, communicating and shopping, so why not hire a web design and development professional to assist you in managing the project?

Getting Your Questions Answered

The way in which your website is designed will affect the overall user experience. A site that is easy to navigate will appeal to web users, whereas one that has flaws will not. To ensure you get the best click-through rate and have an edge over competitor sites, take the time to find a dependable company.

Prior to requesting quotes and testing out the agency’s solutions, ask the following web design and development questions:

  1. How Are the Services Priced? – Money isn’t everything, but when building an online empire you need to consider your financial constraints so that you don’t exceed the budget when focusing on other things, such as marketing, insurance, utilities, etc. If the company you work with offers a flat project price, make sure it corresponds to a clear agreement. Ask if there is a fee for additional features and shop around to ensure the project cost is reasonable.
  2. Are Results Measured Accurately? – Monitoring the progress of your online business is essential, because it allows you to focus on potential flaws and tweak things when necessary. A web design and development company ought to measure conversions and higher repeat traffic. If the results have been verified by clients and published, you can breathe a sigh of relief.
  3. Is the Track Record Clean? – Some companies may specialize in certain industries, which is why it’s best to find out what type of clients they have worked with and what results have been delivered. If they have ongoing relationships with clients and can prove their results with figures, this is a good sign.
  4. Does the Company Have Major Credentials and Qualifications? – Refrain from working with a company that has just started out because although every company has to start somewhere, you will need to entrust your business with professionals who are respected in the industry. Are they authorized? Have they been recognized for groundbreaking projects or special applications? Has their work been published in the media? Ask these questions to determine whether or not the main credentials and qualifications are on point.
  5. How is the Project Executed with Core Services? – For a company to be capable of handling your project from start to finish, the team of web designers and developers must have a particular set of skills. These skills should include copywriting, system integrations, mobile application development, search engine optimization and industry standard marketing techniques.
  6. Is There a ‘Go-To’ Person? – Ideally, a number of team members should be working on your project, but one in particular will keep you updated about its progress. The ‘Go-To’ person will edit, maintain and take accountability for the project’s success. Explore the communication process too, because receiving updates is key for ensuring a lucrative outcome.

In addition to asking the above questions when seeking out assistance from a trusted web design and development professional, it’s worth arranging a face-to-face meeting. This will give you the opportunity to see what the operation looks like. For turn-key ecommerce, Shopify and Magento web design solutions, turn to EBPearls – an agency skilled in mobile application development and online shopping.

Identifying Areas That Can Impact Your Business With Web Design

While promoting your business online was once optional, it’s now essential to your survival. Establishing a solid web presence is the key to attracting and maintaining your online customer base, but simply having a website is no longer enough. Cutting edge web design and development solutions are what’s needed to stay ahead of your competition and on top of your game, but the key to staying there lies in identifying, and capitalizing on those elements of design which have the greatest impact on your client base, and your business.

Aesthetics

First impressions carry incredible weight in a marketplace where customers are free to leave in a split second, with just the click of a mouse. Your website should represent your brand, be visually appealing to your niche market, and instantly differentiate yourself from the competition. Garish colour schemes or hard to read fonts can turn potential clients away, and excessive advertisements or pop-ups are not only annoying, but can also negatively impact your ranking with the top search engines.

Ease of Use

Consistency and clarity are the fundamentals of favourable web design and development. Navigational features such as buttons, links and menus, should be easily identifiable and consistent throughout the site, to help visitors get where they need to go, and access your products or services with ease.

Evolution

Updating your content with fresh ideas or products will entice your visitors to return, and keep the search engines searching, resulting in higher rankings; adding a blog or news section, and updating or adding relevant content on a consistent basis can help you achieve these goals. Keep up with the latest trends, know who your target market is, and make sure your site continues to meet their needs; if not, rework your design to stay current, or risk getting left behind.

Adaptability

The face of web design and development has been forever altered, with the introduction and increasing popularity, of mobile devices. The number of people that use their smartphones or tablets to access the internet grows each day, and it’s imperative that they not only be able to access your website, but navigate it as well. From a user standpoint, this means capturing the key elements of your site, with touchscreen functionality for ease of use.

Optimisation

The best looking website in the world is useless if no one can find it, and though the race to be number one in the search engine rankings is hard fought, it can be won. Since the algorithm used by these giants is constantly changing, search engine optimisation (SEO) can be tricky, but best practices remain, as the search engines consistently look for:

Performance – Fast, functional, reliable design.
Authenticity – Other, reputable websites linking to yours, or citing it as a reference.
Content – Relevant, accurate, unique content, with titles and text that match the theme of the website.

Keyword stuffing, purchased links and a poor user experience will only hurt your rankings and should be avoided at all costs.
