The FIFA World Cup is an international football tournament that takes place every four years. The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 20th November to 18th December 2022. This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world and the first in a Muslim-majority country. The tournament will be played across eight venues, with the final taking place at Lusail Iconic Stadium.

Why is Qatar Hosting the FIFA World Cup? 

The small nation of Qatar was awarded the hosting rights for the FIFA World Cup in 2010, beating out bids from Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. This was a controversial decision, as many felt that Qatar did not have the infrastructure or experience to host such a large-scale event. However, Qatar has since spent billions of dollars on new stadiums and infrastructure projects for the tournament.

What Team Will Be Playing in the FIFA World Cup?

A total of 32 teams will qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with each team playing a minimum of three matches. The teams that advance to the knockout stage will play an additional three matches, for a total of seven matches played over the course of the tournament.

How long is the FIFA World Cup 2022? 

The group stage of the tournament will take place from 20th November to 5thDecember 2022. The knockout stage will begin on 9th December and conclude with the final on 18th December 2022.
