Project Overview
The existing website for Castle & Things didn’t have the level of design and creativity that Castle & Things required. EB Pearls designed Castle & Things website to the specifications of the client. The website was created with the goal of being unique and memorable. EB Pearls implemented both interactive pictures and thumbnails that appealed to the target audience and designed them in a way that was aligned with the brand of Castle & Things.
Business Problems
Business Problems
Users were not drawn to the Castle & Things website due to the lack of creative design elements. The client sought to improve the user experience for their users, and wanted to create a design that would accurately convey the style and values of the business, enticing users to spend more time on the website and enjoy the experience more.
Discovery
Like all our engagements, we started with a structured conversation in the form of a project kick-off workshop, where as a team we worked with Castle & Things to gain an understanding of the considerations and unknowns so that the project was well informed. We worked with Caste & Things to understand the problems that they were facing and communicated how we planned to solve these problems, this allowed all parties to understand the steps that would be taken to create a new website and what features the new website needed to have a strong focus on.
Backlog Creation
Backlog Creation
We developed a prioritised agile backlog to make release and iteration planning easy. This communicated all the things the team plans to spend time on. Once the backlog was created, it was regularly maintained to keep pace with the project.
Backlog Grooming
Backlog Grooming
During this process, the feedback from the clients was collected. This resulted in adjusting, adding, design and workflow sketches and so on. This also allowed us to understand what tasks to prioritise and also to track the project progress.
User Experience and Design
Design Sprint
Design Sprint
The design sprint of this project assured all the team members were on the same page which resulted in a successful collaboration of the team. Furthermore, performance, plan, and progress were shared with the client through the prototyping and testing of solutions.
Internal Testing
Internal Testing
To get feedback and improve further, internal testing was done. After the testing, the most important goal we kept on our minds was easy navigation, allowing users to reach the desired screen, as well as the uniformity in the screens.

Development Sprint
Sprint Planning
Sprint Planning
Once the product owner described the objectives of the back log and sprint, our scrum team performed all of the steps in the particular sprint. Additionally, the development team planned the essential tasks to meet the sprint goal.
Unique Features
- Hailing from a creative brand
- Pleasing design for improved user experience
Retrospective
With thoughtful design and considerate layout of information, EB Pearls, alongside Castle & Things, produced a delightful eCommerce website with an optimal user experience that would help grow an already successful brand. The eCommerce website is considered a success.
Learning
Learning
One of the major lessons we learned was that even if we are implementing something new to the audience, we need to be flexible enough to cater to the other audience too. We also created too many business rules for avoiding loopholes, that made it rigid for the admin or the sales agent if something changes.
Next Steps
Next Steps
After the website is developed, we regularly communicate with the clients and we are always available for future maintenance and are committed to ongoing support. We are monitoring the features that have been released so that we can fix any issues that arise.
