There are 4.2 million millennials in Australia alone. If you’re an app creator, this number is great news because you have the potential to gain many future customers.

Each generation is unique, and we can make the most of this difference by tailoring our apps to meet the needs of our target audience.

However, what do millennials want from mobile apps?

Here are 6 tips to help you design an app they will truly enjoy:

1. Make Your App User-Friendly

The bookstore is filled with thousands of titles, but you’re only looking for one. If you know your genre, you might find it in five minutes or less. This easy search is possible because bookstores are set up in a user-friendly format.

In the same way, if you want millennials to browse through your app as they would their local book store, you have to make your software user-friendly so its content will be easy for them to find.

2. Ensure A High-quality Layout

A high-quality layout is essential to an app’s success because it’s the first thing your target audience will see.

If you captivate millennials with an awesome first impression, they will be more likely to keep your app longer and use it more often.

3. Adjust Your Advertising Methods

84 per cent of millennials don’t trust the traditional methods of advertising. This can be a challenge for app makers wanting to spread the word about their latest software.

However, good advertisements for millennials are not impossible to create. You simply have to ask yourself: “What do millennials want?”. Then, think like a millennial.

Consider getting feedback from your target audience. What better way to find out what millennials want than to ask millennials themselves?

If you don’t have enough time to survey millennials, research apps they enjoy, and read their reviews.

By reading reviews written by millennials, you can truly understand what they’re thinking and discover what they’re looking for in mobile apps.

5. Add Features Millennials Enjoy

60 per cent of millennials like to upload pics and videos to the internet. However, your app doesn’t need to be social media related to include these features.

Because you installed their favourite features, millennials will like your app even more.

6. Create an Update Strategy

When designing an app, it is important to create an update strategy to ensure good reliability.

Phone software updates help prevent annoying glitches and add in new features to our phones to make them work better.

Just as you would routinely update your phone, it is important to polish your app with regular updates.

What Do Millennials Want?

Millennials are different from other generations because of technology, but in many ways, they are still the same.

This brings us back to the question—what do millennials want?

Like previous generations, they want the tools they use to function well so they can enjoy them and use them to their fullest potential.

“We’re very happy with the results of EB Pearls’ work. Since its launch, the app has had over 7,000 downloads, with around 6,000 users completing the signup process in the first 6 weeks. ”
