User Problems

The client form Pymble ladies college planned to develop My Pymble, a mobile app that provides a lot of information on your daughter’s education and school life in your hands. The main objective of the app was to develop a platform for the Pymble Ladies’ College parent community.

Business Problems

Both teams from Pymble Ladies and EB Pearls studied research data that was collected from different types of users. Upon analyzing data from interviews and surveys we came to a realization that there is a need for an app for Pymble Ladies’ College parent community to stay organised through calendar and upcoming assessments and to keep informed through stories and news items and complete tasks regarding absence notifications, event permissions, medical info updates and more.

Process

Discovery
We used variety of scenarios, as well as variety of exercises with the customer, to generate and test the project’s concepts. We also added value to the creative process by using pen and paper prototyping. EB Pearls spent time researching the project’s scope and targeted user journey. We were able to create something that was in line with Pymble Ladies’ concept.
Knowing the types of users who would be using the app, EB Pearls was able to create designs that would lead them to the type of material they were looking for. The client from Pymble Ladies and EB Pearls worked to create platform that addressed the needs of their clients.

Backlog creation

Backlog creation

To ensure that none of the project’s user stories were missed and that the project operated smoothly and efficiently, product backlog was created.
All of the project’s to-do lists were kept in this backlog.
After creating the to-do list in our project management platform, it became easier for us to organize our sprints.

Backlog grooming

Backlog grooming

The team refined the product backlog once it was generated to ensure that it covered all of the items that they would be prioritized. During this time,

-User stories that were not relevant were removed.

-New user stories were added.

– User stories that were complex and high on the priority list were split into two groups.

Design Sprint

This was really engaging, creative, and user-centered phase that allowed us to answer to important business roles with our clients.
The performance and progress of solutions were discussed during prototyping and testing.

User Testing

Each member of the testing team acted as an end-user to test the features, and the client’s team was also included in the process.
We needed to pay attention to little details that may have gone unnoticed during development but could have significant impact on the app.

Learning

We developed the app of  My Pymble with simple yet unique features that helped in winning the hearts of the users. Through the iterative process of using the user flow diagram, as well as the prototype, there were many things that we changed.

Growth

Next steps

Next steps

After the app was launched, it made its way into the hands of users, and we began receiving feedback.
Then we took all of the feedback and incorporated it into the later updates.
The next phase is to search for opportunities to address problems. For example, take the problem of rigidity and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
